This is a gift I gave to my students and co-workers before I left Japan.
When I lived in Akita, I worked at a fantastic junior high school called Izumi. They had a really great school song, which I got to hear many times. They would sing it during sporting events, they would play it at assemblies. It was a lovely march.
As my time working at Izumi came to a close, I wanted to give the school something unique. I came up with this - an action movie arrangement of their song.
It was so much fun to take something that sounded very “John Philip Sousa” and make it sound more “John Williams.” Izumi’s students are energetic, kind, and helpful so it made sense to give them a version of their song that reflected just how super they all are.
Enjoy this crazy piece!
I certainly do.
